Virtual Communities offers union members special discounts on computer
packages and Internet plans. Computer usage in the home broadens skills
development, aids educational progress and improves access to information
and services. An inability to use a computer puts people, especially
children, at a severe disadvantage and has been compared to illiteracy.
Since its launch in 1999 Virtual Communities has sold over 50,000
PC/internet packages to union members.
"The ACTU's endorsement of the Virtual Communities computer and
internet packages reflects our belief that these represent one of
the easiest, most affordable deals for people to access information
and communications technology." Sharan Burrow, President ACTU
